Zach Tarrant looks back on three years as Overture Home Care Executive Director

Congratulations to Zach Tarrant on three years as Overture Home Care’s Executive Director! We’re thrilled that Zach was able to find time in his busy schedule managing operations, overseeing performance, and planning the administrative aspects of our ongoing growth to share with us his thoughts on the past three years as our Executive Director.

Please enjoy this personal narrative from Zach himself, and join us in thanking him and wishing him many more happy years with Overture Home Care.

***

I recently celebrated my third year at Overture Home Care in the role of Executive Director, which for me is a fancy title for someone who is fortunate to serve with the best of the best in the business. Work anniversaries are an opportunity to celebrate, but more importantly, they present us with the gift of reflection.

Before entering home care, I served for sixteen years in public education. During that time, I wore many different hats in three different North Texas school districts — with eight years as a classroom teacher and eight as a school administrator. For the majority of those years, I worked with middle school students: an age group that will always be close to my heart.

Stepping out of the public school setting was a big move for me, but I quickly learned that my new career at Overture Home Care would allow me to continue leading and providing support for those who directly care for others. “This seems like a familiar job,” I thought to myself. I often joke that while working in school, I spent time talking to parents about their children — and now I spend that time talking to children about their parents. The age of the person needing care has changed, but the love and attention to detail has not. What I found here at Overture was a passionate and dedicated team seeking to provide the type of care that we would want for our own loved ones.

Providing top quality service for seniors means that you must also provide top quality support for caregivers. As a principal, my responsibility was to give teachers whatever they needed to meet the needs of our students. As the Executive Director at Overture, I also have the privilege of supporting a team in whatever way I can. I am honored to treat our caregivers with dignity and respect, so that they in turn can serve our clients with patience and discretion.

The past three years have been learning years for me. I certainly did not anticipate making a career change during a worldwide pandemic that had a direct impact on the people we serve, while also learning the ins and outs of a new industry. But through this difficult time, our team has become stronger and we are even more driven to be leaders in the home care industry.

As I reflect over the past three years, one thought remains constant: I am a blessed man to be a part of the Overture family.
