Getting to Know You, Dallas!
Since opening our second office in Dallas, Texas earlier this year, Overture Home Care has been out and about in our new neighborhood, getting to know the community through the wonderful senior-friendly and caregiver assistance organizations that call this vibrant city home.
First up, we’ve been thrilled to join the Dallas Area Gerontological Society (DAGS) for their monthly networking and education events. This is a terrific non-profit organization whose mission is to provide continuing education on gerontological topics and scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in the aging field, as well as advocating for improved services for seniors throughout the Dallas area. Membership is open to everyone from caregivers and healthcare professionals to older adults and anyone interested in issues around aging. The society offers educational meetings on the third Thursday of each month, with continuing education credits available for a range of professional programs — and has already provided $15,000 in scholarships this year alone. Way to go, DAGS!
Next, Overture Home Care hosted a table at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center of Dallas Senior Expo. This was such a fun event on a beautiful, sunny day. We talked to so many people, and handed out wildflower seeds and potting soil to symbolize our own journey as we “plant roots” in our new Dallas home.
Earlier this month, we hosted a luncheon meeting in Dallas for the Aging Life Care Association®. This non-profit organization has a mission to inspire excellence and set premium standards in the field of age-related care by curating a knowledge base, providing continuing education, supporting professional development, and upholding the highest ethical practices. We are honored to help support them in this mission through our new Dallas branch.
Finally, our own Julie Mercer dressed up as the Easter bunny this past week and visited senior communities in both Dallas and Tarrant counties to hand out candy, pose for pictures and raise holiday spirits — with the assistance of Chastity Jones, Heather Heitmann and several of our wonderful caregivers. Thank you, ladies!
