Out and About with Overture Home Care, April 2024 Edition.

Spring has sprung, and with it comes a bouquet of exciting news and updates. Here's a glimpse into some of the behind-the-scenes activities, events, seminars, conferences, and training sessions we've participated in since our last update —

We welcomed Kenosha Coleman to the Overture Home Care team as the newest member of our nursing staff. She comes to us from Michigan and is a compassionate and competent nurse who excels in care for our older adults.

Vivian McNary, the inspiration behind our annual Vivian McNary Caregiver of the Year Award, recently marked her 7th anniversary with Overture Home Care. From our early days with only 20 caregivers to now over 200, Vivian has been an essential member of our team. Her positive attitude, compassion, and relentless drive have left a substantial impact on everyone here at Overture, and of course on the clients she serves. We also joined in celebrating Vivian's 75th birthday, adding to the joy of her remarkable journey with us.

We sponsored March’s American Case Management Association (ACMA) meeting. ACMA’s goal is to serve as the foremost Association for Health Care Delivery System Case Management and Transitions of Care (TOC) Professionals, providing cutting-edge professional development services, including mentoring, educational forums, and access to comprehensive resource information. Additionally, they actively advocate for policies, laws, and other pertinent issues impacting case management practice, aiming to advance and elevate the field's standards.

Several social workers, nurses, and community liaisons from Overture attended the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society’s (TAGS) Quarterly Lunch Meeting. The luncheon centered around an Alzheimer's Association Roundtable, hosted by Jenna Perales, LMSW, Program Director of the Alzheimer's Association. We also sponsored TAGS’ annual Ethics Symposium for over 100 Social Workers and nurses in our community. Our sponsor table theme was “self care” for the nurses, social workers, guardians, administrators and other healthcare professionals in attendance, the speaker panel presented on a variety of topics such as Ageism, Financial Exploitation, End of Life Preparedness, Ethics in Leadership and how to perform a Patient Priorities Assessment.

Our Director of Operations, Austin Helms, and our Nurse Liaison, Cherae Slack, both celebrated their 5-year work anniversaries. We now have 8 members of our administrative staff who have been with us for 5+ years.

Julie Mercer, our Overture Home Care Dallas Community Liaison, dressed up as the Easter Bunny, spreading joy to older adults and staff at several senior living communities across Dallas.

And finally — we held our annual summit for the office staff from Fort Worth and Dallas, which included a team development session led by a guest speaker from True Colors International. The True Colors system simplifies temperament theory into actionable tools. Using colors (Orange, Gold, Green, and Blue), it identifies primary personality types, forming the basis of a fun and insightful personality identification system. True Colors enhances personal and professional development, fostering organizational excellence by boosting engagement, communication, and teamwork.
