Overture Home Care Earns Dementia-Friendly, Age-Friendly Business Certification

The Fort Worth company is committed to important work in local community for those affected by dementia

(Fort Worth, Texas) --- Denise Helms, CEO of Overture Home Care, a Fort Worth, Texas-based home care service company, has announced that Overture has earned its Dementia-Friendly and Age-Friendly Business certifications. The Dementia Friendly designation is awarded by Dementia Friendly Fort Worth, and the Age Friendly designation is awarded by AARP. The two administrative agencies collaborate to create a Fort Worth community that honors and supports its citizens as they age.

“Every aspect of our business is geared toward creating an environment in which our clients can live with dignity and as much independence as possible,” said Ms. Helms. “Our clients with dementia are front and center of our education programs and care protocol, and we take great pride in serving them with deep empathy and knowledge, as well as providing their families with peace of mind.”

Since inception, Overture Home Care has been dedicated to cultivating a culture steeped in empathy and backed by expertise for its clients who are battling dementia. Ms. Helms works closely with Overture’s Executive Vice President Paige Wolk, a licensed social worker and President of the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society (TAGS), to develop the company’s ethos and processes. From taking every employee through an AGE-u-cate Training Institute Dementia Live® curriculum (Ms. Helms and Ms. Wolk are certified Dementia Live trainers), to collaborations with agencies like TAGS, Dementia Friendly Fort Worth, AARP, and more, Overture has worked to become a trusted senior home care provider for north Texas families and senior communities.

“It was clear to us that Overture Home Care is dedicated to Fort Worth seniors and individuals with dementia,” said Gail Snider, Program Coordinator for Dementia Friendly Fort Worth. “They easily met our eligibility requirements with their standard procedures already in place, and, such as dementia education and Dementia Live training. We are really happy to have such a high-quality provider in our network of dementia-friendly and age-friendly businesses.”

For Overture, this recognition is more than a certification.

“Unfortunately, dementia impacts the lives of everyone, and it’s an issue that is only going to worsen as our population continues to age,” said Ms. Wolk. “We know that when the community around an individual with dementia – the family and caregivers, as well as services like restaurants, stores, first responders and more – understands and is educated about this terrible disease, there is a direct correlation between reduced stress and anxiety for the individual. We are doing our best to help drive that systemic change in the communities we serve.”
