Out and About with Overture Home Care: February 2025
February was a busy and rewarding month for Overture Home Care, filled with events that allowed us to strengthen relationships, support our local community, and continue our mission of providing compassionate care for seniors. From celebrating love to enhancing professional knowledge, here’s a look at the key events Overture was part of in February.
Trending Women Tarrant County Events: Empowering Women and Building Connections
February kicked off with Overture’s Vanessa and Paige attending a great event hosted by Trending Women Tarrant County. This event brought together incredible women leaders from across the region to celebrate each other’s successes and discuss ways to empower the community. Later in the month, Paige Wolk was introduced as the new Secretary of the nonprofit, and Vanessa Hernandez was named as the Mid Cities Trending Women Engagement Chair. The organization is now in Mid Cities, Southwest Fort Worth, Arlington, and Dallas, and Overture is proud to support these incredible women as they continue to grow. Alex and Vanessa celebrated Valentines Day with the group as well! It was a month filled with celebration, leadership announcements, and a strong commitment to empowering women across the region.
Stevenson Oaks Open House: Welcoming Kara Naquin Jones, RN
Overture Home Care sponsored the Stevenson Oaks Open House, where we had the pleasure of introducing Overture nurse, Kara Naquin Jones, RN, who will now have a stationed office at Stevenson Oaks. Alex Helms with Overture made the introductions and we all had a great time connecting with the the residents and staff over breakfast. We are thrilled to have Kara on our team.
Smart Senior Series: Safe Driving for Seniors
Overture Home Care was proud to co-sponsor the first session of the Smart Senior Series at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. Titled “Roads Well Traveled: Safe Driving in Your 80s & Beyond,” the session focused on providing aging adults with tips and resources to help them drive safely as they age. This series, which alternates between the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and The Susser Building in Arlington, is a fantastic way to engage with seniors and provide them with valuable information. We’re excited to continue supporting these monthly sessions. Go to smartseniorseries.com to register for the sessions!
Goodbye to Annie: Our Beloved Medical Mannequin
Overture said a bittersweet goodbye to our medical mannequin, Annie. After years of service, Annie is being donated to Aledo High School, where she will continue to support education in the healthcare field. The Overture team had a little fun taking pictures around Annie, “mourning” her departure. We’re happy that she will be put to good use and continue to help future healthcare professionals.
National Wear Red Day & American Heart Month: Supporting Heart Health Awareness
February was National Wear Red Day and American Heart Month, and Overture proudly joined our friends at Heartis to raise awareness about heart disease. It’s an important time to remind everyone about the significance of heart health, especially for seniors. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and colleagues, supporting this vital cause.
“Rose on the Vine Happy Hour”: A Valentine’s Celebration
Overture Home Care sponsored the “Rose on the Vine Happy Hour” at The Preston, where Mike and Julie represented us. The event was a fun-filled celebration of love, complete with a special game of “Name That Tune,” playing only love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day. It was a lighthearted and enjoyable evening that allowed us to connect with others and spread some joy.
Floral Arranging With Friends
Overture Home Care partnered with Encompass Mid Cities, Senior Living Specialists, Valor Hospice, and Livens & Reed to sponsor a floral arranging event. Attendees had the opportunity to create beautiful floral arrangements while connecting with referral sources.
Colleyville Senior Center Valentine’s Day Celebration: Sharing Love and Strength
At the Colleyville Senior Center’s Valentine’s Day celebration, Overture set up a booth to engage with local seniors. We passed out cookies, hand grip strengtheners, and informational pamphlets about our services. It was a great way to spread some love and connect with community members while sharing valuable resources that can support their health and well-being.
Valentine’s Week Fun: Celebrating with Trinity Terrace, The Stayton, and Traditions at Clearfork
Overture participated in several events throughout Valentine’s Week, including celebrations at Trinity Terrace, The Stayton, and Traditions at Clearfork. From floral arranging to making your own yogurt parfaits and enjoying an array of treats, these events were filled with joy and gave us the chance to connect with older adults and their families in a fun and festive way.
TAGS Quarterly CEU: Continuing Education for Senior Care Professionals
At the TAGS Quarterly CEU event, Dr. Jacob Rogers, Pharm.D., BCACP Clinical Pharmacist at HSC Health – Center for Older Adults, shared valuable insights on senior care. Vanessa and Paige, both members of the TAGS board, were in attendance, and Vanessa received her TAGS Board Member badge. It was a fantastic opportunity for Overture’s entire nursing team to earn continuing education credits and enhance their knowledge, all while supporting a great cause.
Overture Home Care Administrative Team Summit 2025
Reflecting on an incredible day of growth and collaboration at the Annual Overture Home Care Administrative Summit! From insightful conversations with our owner Denise Helms about Overture’s history to engaging team-building exercises that strengthened communication and leadership, we stayed focused on our core values: patience, dignity, and discretion. Grateful for the chance to learn and grown with our Dallas & Fort Worth teams. Our team put their problem-solving skills to the test during the scavenger hunt around the Fort Worth Stockyards. We had an improv team took us out of our comfort zones, offering a fun and engaging experience that helped us sharpen our communication skills and think on our feet. Can’t wait for Summit 2026!
TAGS Scholarship Mixer: Supporting the Next Generation of Aging Professionals
Overture Home Care was proud to attend the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society (TAGS) Scholarship Mixer, a fundraising event that raised money for students pursuing careers in the field of aging. We’re honored to support the next generation of professionals who will continue to improve the lives of seniors, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of this initiative. It’s one of the many events we participate in to raise the $25,000 the organization will be giving out at the annual Summer Forum in July. Go to TAGSTarrant.org for more information on scholarships!
Julie Mercer at Coffee and Conversation: Educating on Senior Care Services
Our very own Julie Mercer was a speaker at the “Coffee and Conversation” event at Belmont Senior Living. She shared her expertise on the differences between hospice, home health, and private duty home care, using her experience at Overture to provide valuable insights to attendees. It was an excellent opportunity for us to educate the community and clarify these important distinctions in senior care.
February was a month full of meaningful events and opportunities for Overture Home Care to connect with the community, support professional development, and spread joy. From celebrating Valentine’s Day to engaging in educational initiatives, we’re grateful for the chance to make a positive impact. We look forward to more exciting events in the future as we continue to serve and support our seniors.
