Out and About with Overture Home Care: October 2024

October was a vibrant month filled with events that showcased our commitment to community, education, and wellness. From educational talks to fun social gatherings, we made the most of every opportunity to connect with clients, residents, partners, and advocates. Here’s a recap of our October activities!

Supervisory Visit in Dallas

Highlighting the incredible teamwork of our dedicated professionals! Jesika Mercer, our case manager, and Nakema Booth, our compassionate caregiver, at the beginning of the month at a supervisory visit in Dallas. Their Commitment to our clients ensures the highest level of care and support. Grateful for their hard work and dedication!

TAGS Scholarship Mixer

We had a wonderful evening at the Tarrant Area Gerontological Society (TAGS) scholarship mixer, where community partners gathered to support educational opportunities for individuals in our field. It was a fantastic way to network, share resources, and celebrate the importance of education in caregiving.

Oktoberfest at Traditions-Clearfork

In a celebration of culture and community, Alex and Stephanie organized a delightful beer flight tasting for the residents at Traditions-Clearfork in honor of Oktoberfest. The event brought residents together for an enjoyable afternoon filled with laughter, camaraderie, and, of course, great beer!

The Ridglea Senior Living Fall Event: Charcuterie in a Cup

To celebrate the fall season, we created “charcuterie in a cup” for the Ridglea fall event. This innovative take on a traditional charcuterie board was a hit among attendees, providing a fun and interactive way to enjoy delicious treats while fostering community spirit.

Dementia Live Training at The Plaza at Edgemere

Mike and Julie led an impactful Dementia Live training session at The Plaza at Edgemere. This immersive experience helped participants understand the challenges faced by individuals with dementia, fostering empathy and improving caregiving techniques among staff.

Hike with Trending Women at Grapevine Lake

Our team had an invigorating hike with the Trending Women group at Grapevine Lake. This outdoor adventure was not only a great way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather but also an opportunity to strengthen connections and promote health and wellness.

End Alz Walk Kick-Off at Wild Acre Brewing

We kicked off the End Alz Walk at Wild Acre Brewing, rallying support for Alzheimer’s awareness and research. The energy was electric as participants came together to share their stories and commitment to the cause.

DAGS Annual Fall Educational Conference

At the Dallas Area Gerontological Society (DAGS) annual fall educational conference, we showcased our mission with a booth featuring the slogan, "Keeping the air fresh and the care personalized because there’s no place like home." Attendees appreciated our air fresheners, which served as a reminder of our dedication to creating a welcoming environment for all. Huge thank you to Julianna, Julie, Ashley and Mike for representing Overture as sponsors and attendees! Special shoutout to Ashley for winning not one, but TWO door prizes!

End Alz Walk Fort Worth

We also participated in the End Alz Walk in Fort Worth, where we handed out succulents with the clever tagline “Alzheimer’s Succs.” It was a proud moment as our very own Alex Helms served as the walk chair, leading the charge for awareness and support in the community.

Bone Health Talk at Trinity Terrace

For the bone health talk at Trinity Terrace, we put together breakfast cups for attendees, promoting nutrition and wellness in an engaging way. This event highlighted the importance of taking care of our bodies and making healthy choices.

Brookdale Health Fair

Lastly, we attended the Brookdale Health Fair, setting up a table to connect with the community and share resources. This event was another opportunity to engage with individuals seeking information about health and wellness.

Team Strategy Meeting in Dallas

This was an invaluable opportunity for us to gather, align our goals, and brainstorm innovative ideas to enhance our services. Team members shared insights and collaborated on strategies that will guide us through the upcoming months.

Home Care Association of America Conference in Seattle

A few members of our executive team—Denise,Paige, and Jamie—had the privilege of attending the Home Care Association of America (HCAOA) conference in beautiful Seattle, Washington. This annual gathering brought together leaders in the home care industry to share best practices, discuss the latest trends, and network with peers.

Denise, Paige, and Jamie returned with fresh perspectives and new strategies that we can implement to enhance our services. They attended informative sessions on regulatory changes, technology in home care, and innovative patient care models. The insights gained from the conference are invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence in the field of home care and plan for the year ahead.

Trinity Terrace Blood Pressure Clinics

We hold a blood pressure clinic weekly, at Trinity Terrace, promoting health awareness among residents while getting into the Halloween spirit. Our team provided valuable health screenings and shared tips for maintaining healthy habits, all while donning festive costumes.

Halloween Festivities

At the end of the month, we enjoyed a variety of Halloween events, including passing out candy at Trunk or Treat at The Grandview, the Heartis Fall Festival, the Trinity Terrace Fall Festival and Boo Fest at Vitality of Preston Hollow.

Dallas and Fort Worth Office Halloween Parties

Our Dallas and Fort Worth offices celebrated Halloween in style with festive parties that included a delicious lunch and an array of treats. The highlight of the festivities was a spirited pumpkin decorating contest where team members showcased their creativity and competitive spirit. Everyone enjoyed sharing laughter and indulging in seasonal snacks, making the gatherings a fun way to celebrate the holiday and strengthen our team bonds.

October was a month rich with experiences that brought us together. We are grateful for everyone who participated and contributed to these events, reinforcing our shared commitment to care and connection. As we move into November, we look forward to continuing these efforts and making even more positive impacts in our community!
