Be Aware of Products Claiming to Treat Alzheimer's Disease
Alzheimer’s affects many people we care about, and we know that family members can feel desperate to do anything to stop this terrible disease. Some companies take advantage of this desperation.
Low Turnover in a High Turnover Business
Overture caregiver turnover is a fraction of that of the overall industry. We believe a happy caregiver means a happy client. Read on to learn how we’re different, and what that means for our clients and their families.
Men's Health Week June 10-June 16
The week of June 10-June 16 is designated as International Men’s Health Week. This week brings awareness to men’s health issues as well as ways to encourage healthy life choices. For instance, we take this week to highlight the importance for men to go to the doctor, get regular checkups, and getting screen tested.
Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month
With June arriving, we start the summer honoring Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. Throughout this month people show their support and advocacy by wearing purple, the official color of the Alzheimer’s movement. Thousands of families and friends come together to show their support for everyone affected by Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is the only leading cause of death that cannot be prevented, cured, or even slowed, so we take this month to highlight the impact Alzheimer’s has on millions of people.
Easy Meal Tips for Seniors
We recently had the opportunity to attend a Meals on Wheels of Tarrant County presentation from their dieticians about health and nutrition for our seniors. As our family members age, appetites decline, and factors like illness, medication, or arthritis can affect ability, energy, and desire to prepare and eat nutritious meals. Plus, if your family member has dementia, using the stove is particularly dangerous, so these tips require no heating or use a microwave.
May Is National Stroke Awareness Month
National Stroke Awareness Month is observed every May aims to increase the public awareness about the warning signs of stroke, symptoms of a stroke, stroke prevention, and the impact of stroke on survivors, families and caregivers.
Your Loved One Has Arthritis. Does That Mean They Need Help?
Arthritis is painful inflammation and stiffness of the joints. Unfortunately, arthritis affects roughly around 50% of people who are 65 years or older. It can affect any joint in the body, and, in extreme cases, can lead to unbearable pain.
We understand the prevalence and degrees of severity of arthritis, as well as the tremendous pain it can cause, particularly as your loved ones simply try to go about their daily lives.

March Is National Nutrition Month
March is National Nutrition Month. While nutrition is important for everyone, it's particularly critical for our seniors - appetites decline, health issues can dictate dietary restrictions, and medications can cause challenges. Overture ensures that our clients eat healthy meals according to their dietary needs and plans. We do the shopping, prepare the meals, and we make sure that Mom or Dad is eating enough. Are you worried about a loved one? Give us a call 24x7 for a free consultation: 817-887-9401.
Repetition and Alzheimer’s
Is your loved one with Alzheimer’s saying or doing the same thing over, and over… and over? The Alzheimer’s Association’s website has some helpful information as to why this is happening, and how you can respond to help make things easier.
